A systems approach to exploitation
Abstract
‘Systems’ and ‘programming’ are to‐day somewhat hard worked terms, so that it may be helpful to define what is meant by a systems approach to the exploitation of library resources. In a college or university library, resources include not only the usual documents and services but also the library staff's experience and special knowledge, and, an indefinite facility which comes from the goodwill and co‐operation of the teaching staff. It is perhaps of interest, too, that the original meaning of exploit was to ‘unfold’, an apt one for our purpose.
