The case of the co‐opted committeeman
Abstract
The periodical New society has been going for some twelve years and has just passed the six hundredth issue mark. Arithmetically minded readers will calculate that it is a weekly publication. Those whose duties include the booking‐in of periodicals will know this without doing the division problem and so will librarians who look for it each Thursday with keen anticipation—probably about six; four of whom are newly out of library school, feeling irked by the mysteries of library practice minutiae and looking for a fresh two or three year course in one of the vaguer areas of social service.
