Abstract

THE USE OF periodicals in public libraries is a neglected area of study. Luckham has examined practices in two libraries, but his approach is largely sociological. Several studies have been undertaken of periodicals activities in individual libraries Huws, Herts County, Stradling. They share the drawback of beginning from the assumption that the public library ought to supply periodicals, and proceed from there. The studies are supplier rather than user‐orientated.
