Abstract

WHEN WE had the drinks in front of us and were settled comfortably, my friend Theo said well then, how have you been old son and I said so‐so, because I don't like to burden him—or you—with my troubles. Then I asked after his luck and he replied, ‘Everything is fine—except the wife's back.’ ‘Where did she go?’ I enquired and Theo said in a long‐suffering tone, ‘Oh very funny, I mean her back—her slipped disc.’
