Abstract

I HAVE known for some time that various individuals and groups are not happy about children's books that show clean little girls playing with dolls and grubby boys sawing wood. Such books are condemned as ‘sexist’, a very IN word—and not to be sloppily pronounced so as to be confused with ‘sexy’, which is not only OUT but inflammatory.
