The Shallow end

Abstract

ONE of our dog's self‐imposed tasks is to collect the mail from the front door and then dump it at the first pair of feet he encounters on his way back. He gets a sweet biscuit for that. If no‐one is around, he files the delivery in his basket and forgets to mention it.
