Abstract
During the 1980s, U.S. business will continue to face serious productivity and innovation problems as the economy shifts from a production‐based to a knowledge‐based one. To tackle the productivity challenge, companies will have to adapt their organizational, reporting, and compensation systems to the post‐industrial era.
