Abstract

A detailed explanation of a printing project is given in Quote 6, the latest issue of a journal produced by six firms in the print trade. The illustrated booklet follows an assignment through from briefing stage, when the client and designer discuss the type of product desired, i.e. tone, form, type of printed matter, etc., and the finances involved, to the final printing of the finished product. Design, block estimate, copy finalisation, photography, the process by which an item is actually printed, galleys, paste‐ups, and page proofs are all covered in detail in the booklet. Also included is a sample chart showing the progress of the project in reference to each of the people involved, i.e. copywriter, photographer, blockmaker, printer, etc.
