Abstract

A casual link between skin cancer and exposure to solar ultraviolet radiation is now generally accepted. Equipment which emits ultraviolet radiation is common‐place in many industrial processes and in medical and dental practice. However, people may also be exposed as a result of the radiation occurring as an unwanted by‐product of a particular process, for example, during arc welding or plasma torch operations.
