Building and industrial paints: behind steady overall market growth in Europe
Abstract
Europe's small to medium‐sized, independent paint manufacturers are facing uneasy times, suggests Frost and Sullivan in its new 303‐page report: “European Market for Paints” (#E1098). The report looks at how major chemical companies have acquired many of the larger manufacturers and are establishing paint networks across Europe, particularly in industrial paints. In the building‐paints field, the giants are entering the burgeoning do‐it‐yourself market with well‐advertised, cleverly packaged, user‐friendly paints. This DIY sector has grown to the point where it now consumes 40% of all building paint in Europe.
