Removable‐cartridge storage: More than backup
Abstract
The removable‐cartridge storage units discussed in this article each hold a cartridge capable of storing large amounts of data (up to several gigabytes). The cartridge can be removed by the user and replaced by other, similar cartridges. One of the most obvious uses for removable‐cartridge storage is to provide backup for material on the computer's fixed (non‐removable) disk, but there are actually far more interesting and significant uses.
