Abstract

The information society, the information age, the knowledge based society, the knowledge driven economy are all now familiar terms. Governments have been promoting them, the media has been reporting on them, and our leaders use them to indicate progress and advancement. But just how far are we along the transition line from the industrial age towards the information age?
