Abstract

A recent uproar in the high tech industry, stemming from an allegation initially raised by Sun and Netscape, is that Microsoft is attempting to expand its market power by bundling its Internet Explorer Web browser with Windows. The allegation caused the Justice Department to introduce a lawsuit against Microsoft. The Justice Department along with Microsoft competitors claimed that Microsoft is trying to achieve a monopoly in the marketplace and will drive some of its traditional competitors out of business.
