Abstract

In a talk to the Bradford Engineering Society at the Bradford Technical College recently, Mr. F. N. McLaren (Industrial Sales Dept., Esso Petroleum Co. Ltd.) referred to the increased interest being taken in lubrication by industry—“a change of attitude long overdue,” he said. Mr. McLaren said that the oil industry welcomes this interest since it made the task of providing efficient lubrication a much simpler one. “The oil companies recognize that in these days industry requires something more than a regular call by a high pressure salesman. Machinery to day is becoming increasingly complex and costly, and it is the business of the oil companies to see that its efficiency is maintained at a high level and its life prolonged. This cannot be clone without specialised knowledge, together with research and technical facilities of a high order. These things already exist— it is up to the consumer to take full advantage of them.”
