Abstract

The illustration is of a Le Tourneau “Tournapull” Scraper operated by the Public Works Department, Federation of Malaya, being lubricated on site with the aid of a mobile service fitted out with standard Wakefield Lubrequipment. The chassis is a standard 3‐ton Canadian Ford and provides a mobile service unit of ample power and high ground clearance, capable of going anywhere. It will deliver oils and grease under pressure to all mechanical plant used on sites operated by this Public Works Department. Plant may be used anywhere in the Federation and scrapers, tractors and excavators may be 100 miles away from their base workshops. Manual lubrication under these circumstances is difficult and time wasting and regular lubrication maintenance was frequently not carried out when it had to be done haphazardly from loose containers.
