Abstract

IN OUR EDITORIAL, last month, we drew attention to the need for testing equipment which would provide rapid results for evaluating new lubricants. In no field is the need more pressing than that of radiant resistant lubricants. It is timely, therefore, that a new ring, known as SETRA (submerged, elevated temperature, irradiation apparatus), the first dynamic grease rig running under simulated conditions of U.K. type cooled reactors of high gamma flux, has been announced by the Mobil Oil Company Ltd. It has been operating since June in the spent fuel element gamma facility at Harwell.
