Abstract

In submitting a short history of the origins of the new, tentative U.S. Military Specification, MIL‐L‐002105 A (ORD) for Multi‐purpose Gear Lubricant, and in recording that its reception cannot be registered as enthusiastic amongst U.S. Equipment manufacturers, the following factors should be borne in mind. Firstly, the MIL‐L‐002105 A lubricants were developed to meet a specific purpose, that of lubricating military vehicles. Other considerations were secondary. As a result, and secondly, MIL‐L‐002105 A lubricants today find a more limited use than the older 2105 lubricants.
