Abstract

INSTALLATION of a new rolling mill is always of interest to anyone concerned with lubrication, but the new mill installed at Kitts Green, Birmingham; for James Booth Aluminium Ltd. is of special interest because the roll neck bearings have been designed to be lubricated by micro‐fog for the first time in Great Britain. The decision was made to use the Norgren Micro‐Fog Lubrication system at the design stage of the project; previous applications have been for conversions from an existing grease lubrication system. In making their recommendations for the installation, the Norgren engineers were able to draw on the experience of their American colleague, coupled with the approval of the system by British Timken Ltd.
