Abstract

IF a twist drill could be kept perfectly cool and its cutting edge lubricated, at all speeds, there would be almost no limit to the speed or the depth it could cut and drill. Improvements in cutting oils and coolants have gone a long way, and the present cutting speeds of modern automatics would not have been possible if one had to rely on the coolant of a decade ago.
