HOW TOUGH ARE REINFORCED FIBRE PLASTICS?
Abstract
FIBRE reinforced plastics materials are chosen for many industrial applications because of their high specific strength, low density and corrosion resistant properties. To ensure that these properties are effectively used requires careful design of the form and nature of the fibre and resin, and a testing programme to this end is described by Dr W. S. Carswell, of the National Engineering Laboratory Forming and Fabrication Division.
