Abstract

It will be many years yet before telex is displaced as the most universal medium of printed electronic communication for the international business community, because of the sheer size of the present network. Admittedly, systems exist which operate substantially faster than the maximum telex transmission speed of 400 characters a minute, and these are often useful for organizations needing to move large volumes of text over a few regular routes. However, no system except telex provides access, at will, to virtually every commercial undertaking, other than the smallest, throughout the world.
