POLITICAL INTERESTS AND THE CLASH OF CIVILIZATIONS
Abstract
In his speech on November 19, at the meeting of Pacific region leaders in Seattle, President Clinton suggested that the new world order integrates security and economics. His vision reflects a deep understanding of the realities of economic interdependence and the challenges that the U.S. faces, especially in Asia. This is true as “Asia is becoming economically more important to America just as America is becoming economically less critical to Asia” (Sanger, 1993).
