Some £3.5 million for the Education for Industry initiative has been allocated by the Further Education Funding Council for Wales.
Colleges in Wales were invited to submit projects for funding from two strands. The major strand aims to support employers, employees and those seeking employment to gain industrial skills. The target areas are in key and basic skills, technical skills, information and communication technology, management and crafts. The emphasis is on meeting the needs of small and medium-size firms. This strand accounted for £3.15 million.
The second strand, for £350,000, supports the Manufacturing Training Action Plan for Wales.
