Irish schools linked to Internet

Keywords Internet, Ireland, Schools

More than 4,000 Irish schools are now linked to the Internet, thanks to the country's IT 2000 programme, a £40 million public-private partnership involving Telecom Ireland.

The scheme uses the European SchoolNet, a grouping of Internet sites hosted by individual countries. It lists sites vetted by teachers for their educational content and includes a system for sharing educational material and experiences between schools and countries.
