New tools and standards should be established to adapt traditional training and education systems to the new information and communication technologies, says the European Commission.
The Commission considers that the lack of standards is acting as a brake on the use of these technologies. It says that educational establishments and commercial suppliers of learning and training materials are calling for the development of open standards.
The Commission has asked the European Standardization Committee to draw up a work programme on the matter.
