Reinspecting poor training

Reinspecting poor training

Keywords: Training, Training agencies

Almost half the organizations running Government-funded work-based training schemes which have been inspected so far have at least one area of training which needs immediate improvement.

So says the Training Standards Council, the independent national inspectorate for this educational sector.

To date, the council has published 209 inspection reports on training providers. Around 100 of these are due for reinspection because of one or more areas of poor training provision. The most common weakness lies in the quality-assurance procedures and practices of training organizations.

David Sherlock, chief inspector, said: "Reinspection should not be viewed as the last nail in the coffin for poor training providers, but rather as a second chance to demonstrate excellence. Where improvements have taken place we will praise the changes. We will, however, be sharp in our criticisms of those organizations which have shown themselves to be incapable of change".
