Portugal

From Dict@torship to Democr@cy, from P@per to Inform@tion

Partner preparatory schools will be involved in training and learning about the benefits of using the new media by collecting information about important cultural aspects of their communities/regions. This will be included on Web pages and the best one will be selected during the Netd@ys week.

European cultural diversity and identityThis will be developed based on the issue of the Iberian environment in relation to the global society.

Equal opportunitiesEqual opportunities will be improved through swifter access to information.

Education and training for improving digital literacyDuring Netd@ys week, preparatory schools will be connected to other school sites at international level. Teachers and students at higher education schools will exchange information under the subject, "Using the Internet to improve learning and teaching".

Companha

It will have three main aims: the need to increase the level of understanding of ICT in those communities; promoting access to information and technical knowledge for the socially disadvantaged; and developing European citizenship.

CitizenshipCitizenship, at national and European levels, will be facilitated by access to a large range of information via new technologies.

European cultural diversityThis will be addressed by the exchange of information between different cultural organisations and Web sites.

Equal opportunitiesThis is a priority within the project.

Education and training for improving digital literacyLocal Internet Centre/s will be installed, together with a chatroom and videoconference between the involved countries during the Netd@ys Week. The project will encourage the teachers' communities involved to use ICT more intensively in their curricular and extracurricular activities.
