Focus Central London has launched a programme offering £50 shopping vouchers to long-term unemployed adults who have successfully completed training, if they recommend the training to a family member, friend or neighbour who is also unemployed. The programme targets the nine central London boroughs where unemployment is consistently above the London or national average. The training is free to attend, funded by the government. Mark Evans, Focus Central London training manager, said: "We know how difficult it is to reach the long-term unemployed through the media. That is why we have developed this scheme. Word of mouth is the most effective referral method and we are just helping this along a little. This is a £50,000 commitment from Focus to tackle long-term unemployment in central London. We are taking this very seriously."
