Bid to reduce technology skills shortage

Eleven major companies have joined forces with the European Information and Communications Technology Industry Association to set up the Career-Space consortium, which aims to reduce the skill shortage in information and communication technologies. The consortium will work with 20 European universities to develop a professional profile in information technology, designed to boost the teaching of this technology in Europe. There will also be close collaboration with EU institutions. Among the consortium members are BT, IBM, Microsoft Europe, Nokia, Nortel, Philips, Siemens and Telefonica.
