An international consortium of some of the world's leading science-based companies has developed a business-enhancement programme which is bringing significant business benefits.
The Manufacturing Professionalism programme has been developed by AstraZeneca, Avecia and Syngenta, in partnership with Warwick Manufacturing Group at the University of Warwick. The programme has 250 participants from the USA, Canada, the UK, Sweden, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Brazil, Puerto Rico, China and the Philippines. It is based on the targeted personal development of key manufacturing specialists.
In an evaluation by partner companies, some 70 per cent of line managers reported that the programme delivered immediate business benefits. Longer-term and indirect benefits included being able to attract and retain top talent within manufacturing.
The programme consists of seven four-day modules and an application project delivered over 18 months. It seeks to improve manufacturing capability and supply-chain management through developing professional manufacturing people.
