Regional network established for lifelong learning

Regional network established for lifelong learningKeywords: Learning, Knowledge management, Europe

Some ten regional authorities in five European countries have established a network to promote lifelong learning. The network, initiated by Tuscany and involving regional authorities in Sweden, Germany, Denmark and Spain, aims to see all European citizens offered the same opportunities for access to education and training throughout their lives. The network encourages exchanges of experience on education and training, and will work to promote a knowledge society. Partnerships should be created with schools, training centres, companies and research organizations. A list of projects will be submitted to the European Commission, with a view to securing financial support. An association of regional and local authorities for lifelong learning is planned. This will have a more formal structure than the current network.
