Commission warns three countries over mutual recognition of qualifications

The European Commission has warned Italy, Spain and Ireland to comply with judgements of the European Court of Justice regarding the mutual recognition of qualifications. If the member states do not implement the court's judgements, the Commission may ask it to fine them. Italy is preventing architects established in another EU member state and providing services in Italy from having a permanent office in the country. Spain is failing fully to implement an EU directive on the free movement of doctors and the mutual recognition of their qualifications. And Ireland is failing fully to implement a similar EU directive covering lawyers.
