Making the Most of Work Experience

National Council for Work ExperienceCD-ROM and support material

A related initiative in the area of work experience is the tutor resource pack, which has been developed by the NCGE. The guide seeks to prepare students and help them get the most out of their work experience. It aims to address all issues of work experience, from finding the best places to work, to how to apply oneself whilst on the placement to get the best out of it. The pack has been produced in CD-ROM format and provides resources for tutors which will enable them, for example, to:

  • ensure students have clear expectations of the benefits of work experience;

  • encourage students to record and review their learning though a PDP process or work experience log;

  • provide a basis for assessment and accreditation of the learning;

  • develop the skills in students that will help them make formal decisions about future learning and work; and

  • provide a framework for future learning from work experience.

The resource costs £17.00 with postage and packing within the UK. Further details can be found at: www.work-experience.org/cms/ShowPage/Home_page/Practitioners/Resource_centre/Tutors_resource_pack/p!eigLjcd
