Describes how Nokia (telecoms) uses online technologies to tap into the knowledge and expertise of its employees when developing new strategies, researching matters that might affect the company’s long-term performance, and integrating these into the firm’s business development plans. Discusses how employee involvement in both the development and implementation of strategy has been developed further through the use of social networking technology, explaining Nokia’s Booster Programme. Explains how this operates and sets out the benefits that the online community offers Nokia - it offer fast and effective global communication; it promotes the active involvement of employees in organization; it encourages the co-creation of organizational change; and it fosters long-term engagement not just short bursts of interest.
