Looks at the claim that US employees are becoming less engaged with the companies they work for. Argues that employers have let employee engagement slide since the recession and it has the potential to lead to decreased productivity and employees defecting to other companies. Examines what three employers: Pitney Bowes Inc., Costco and LifeGift have done to increase employee engagement. Contends that employee engagement has to consist of more than offering opportunities for career advancement.
