Leading training provider, Video Arts, has announced the completion of a management buy-out from holding company MediaKey plc, for up to £7.1 million.

The management team struck the deal in conjunction with venture capitalists Dresdner Kleinwort Benson Private Equity Ltd and management transaction specialists, Invex, who are investing alongside, and complete, the team.

The deal makes allowance for additional funding for investment in new products, and Managing Director, John Lowe, comments: "The Video Arts brand is recognised worldwide and, following the restructuring of the company and the release of funds, we are able to leverage the value of the name with our strategic new product development plan. There are great opportunities to exploit the strengths of this company in the new technological age. We aim to continue to produce the best general business skills training products for distribution across a wide range of formats, including company intranets and the Internet, using the latest digital technology."

Under the deal, the management team and Invex now control 25 per cent of the company, with funds managed by venture capitalists Dresdner Kleinwort Benson Private Equity Ltd holding the remaining 75 per cent.
