New Master in Financial Management (MFM) programme

Keywords: Financial management, Qualifications

The Rotterdam School of Management (RSM) has launched a new Master's degree programme in the financial management field.

The programme is aimed at young professionals seeking international financial careers in corporate finance, financial markets, financial decision making, risk analysis and the management of financial services, among others. It is a full-time, 12-month programme taught in English. The degree course is part of RSM's growing portfolio of international programmes. It includes a study trip abroad offering the participants a look behind the scenes of the financial industry and its major players. The number of participants will be limited to 30. Both professors and participants will be culled from many different countries, guaranteeing the international setting of the programme.

The initiative for a new qualification was made by the co-operation of three Erasmus-organisations: the Erasmus Center for Financial Training (ECFT), the Rotterdam Institute for Financial Management (RIFM) and RSM, the Erasmus Graduate School of Business, which felt a need in the marketplace for a programme specialising in finance at the management level.

In addition to the conceptual coursework, the programme includes extensive workshops to allow participants to gain hands-on experience in working with state-of-the-art tools and methodologies of financial decision making. The curriculum design ensures that theoretical insights are grounded in practical application. A decision-oriented approach is pursued throughout for the graduates to work on a management level. A project period at the close of the programme allows participants to apply learned skills to a concrete financial issue.
