Eschelon Telecom dials up centralized training

Eschelon Telecom, a provider of voice, data, internet and business-telephone systems, has centralized training for 1,300 geographically disbursed employees across the US.

With its headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Eschelon serves more than 60,000 business customers in eight western US states. Regan Duffy, senior manager of corporate development at Eschelon Telecom, said: “We used to have three stand-alone training entities internally for sales, human resources and operations. Now we have consolidated our training resources into one on-demand workforce-development portal to deliver a uniform training experience to every associate. This has eliminated the geography gaps by powering a blended-learning environment with both online and classroom-based delivery tools. The training department has gained efficiencies by automating enrolments and reporting, while sharing content in one universal repository that is accessible round the clock.”

Regan Duffy continued: “We chose LearnCenter because we were looking for an all-inclusive rapid-delivery solution that would empower us to create and manage content, automate manual processes and integrate with our human-resource information-system and e-mail software with no reliance on outside resources or IT. Our goal was to deliver better quality and more consistent training to our associates while utilizing few training resources.”

Meanwhile, Cummins Filtration, a worldwide designer and manufacturer of filtration products and exhaust systems for diesel-powered equipment, has selected the LearnCenter workforce-productivity suite to help to develop the careers of its global employees.

Formerly Fleetguard Inc., with headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee, Cummins Filtration was founded in 1958 and currently has more than 5,600 employees around the world. Jeff Harmann, Cummins Filtration director of e-learning, said: “We needed a workforce-development system that would enable us to centralize every aspect of our global employee-development initiatives. The LearnCenter suite will provide our employees with a robust and easy-to-use portal that will host our global training calendar and include a blend of instructor-led training, virtual instructor-led training, and web-based training.

“Our goal is to provide a world-class career-development and growth environment that, in turn, will increase employee retention and productivity. LearnCenter will touch every employee with a consistent message and provide personalized access and tools to support training and development needs. To provide further personalization and consistency, the system will integrate with our Lotus Notes e-mail system.”
