Computer-based testing expands potential workforce

Article Type: Notes and news From: Industrial and Commercial Training, Volume 41, Issue 5

The Health Authority, Abu Dhabi (HAAD) is providing computer-based testing to help to meet the rapidly-rising demand for high-quality health services in the Emirate by making it easier for prospective employees from abroad to sit the necessary examinations in their own countries.

“Computer-based testing is the first choice for most international high-stake licensure examinations”, said HAAD chairman Dr Al Mazrouei. “Applicants will be able to register for, schedule and sit the examinations in their home countries”.

The first examination, for prospective nurses, was launched in January at the HAAD test center in Abu Dhabi. Examinations for prospective physicians, dentists, pharmacists and clinical-support workers will follow.

HAAD has signed an exclusive five-year contract with Pearson Vue to provide the testing for licensure examinations at centers in India, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Philippines.

In the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, everyone has access to healthcare and freedom to choose their provider. Using an open system for all certified providers of health services allows HAAD to deliver quality care and outcomes in compliance with international standards.
