The 28th Textile Research Symposium at Mt. Fuji, 1999
The 28th Textile Research Symposium at Mt. Fuji was held on 1-3 August 1999 at the Fuji Kyouiku Kenshusho (Fuji Education Conference Centre). This year, 23 papers were presented, covering a wide range of textile technology from fibre science to apparel engineering. A virtue of this Symposium is the opportunity to discuss textile science and engineering throughout each session and having enough time allocated for technical interaction. The Symposium comprised a single session, without parallel sessions, based on the idea that we must not subdivide textile technology because it is a single discipline. Discussions were very active as usual.
The conference venue is near the holy mountain, Mt. Fuji, which usually appears only at sunset or in the early morning, because of mist in midsummer. In this Symposium year it made its appearance throughout the daytime, inspiring all the participants with its presence, as it could be seen from the lecture room all day.
