Introduction from the Editor - Vol. 3 No. 1

Article Type: Editorial From: International Journal of Housing Markets and Analysis, Volume 3, Issue 1.

Many property and real estate journals have focussed on the “global financial crisis” due to the perceived effect on all property markets, although it is evident that all housing markets are influenced to varying degrees. The International Journal of Housing Markets has not overlooked this crisis but rather has accepted the broad global nature of the research published. This diversity is one of the core benefits of this journal which publishes a wide range of housing-related research from a cross-section of international markets. Once again the third volume of this journal provides an opportunity to publish research that compliments each other and increase the level of knowledge in each country. Consideration should be given to other influencing factors such as the level of knowledge and research produced in each market. Whilst some markets receive a high level of interest from researchers, there are also developing nations that are examined in this journal but often do not receive substantial attention from editors and journals. The unique focus of this journal is to balance cutting edge housing research from different countries.

This issue contains six papers which collectively provide an invaluable insight into housing on different continents. Individual countries represented include China, Thailand, USA, Australia and Singapore, where a range of varying research methodologies have been applied. The increasing interest in this journal from different global regions has ensured it is possible to publish this diverse range of research.

I would like to thank the contributors and readers for their continued support in the name of quality international housing research. Please feel free to contact the editor directly (richard.reed@deakin.edu.au) with any feedback or suggestions. Also thank you for your regular emails and positive comments.
