Budget planning

My daughter recently held a 30th birthday party. My wife was involved in the planning, decorating the room, etc. My wife is a scientist, a very logical woman – but she approached this task with enthusiasm only. There was almost no attempt to plan, to organise, to control a budget. Emotion was the chief ingredient. Of course everything “magically” came together. Does this mean that the planning skills were just there – but hidden under the surface; or is there some other force at work. Do we normally over-analyse and overplan? Should we let emotion and enthusiasm have its head more often?
