New Web site on Swedish EPA CEE programme
New Web site on Swedish EPA CEE programme
Keywords: WWW, Projects, Environmental management strategy
The Central and Eastern European Programme of the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency is focused on supporting the environmental authorities in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Russia in developing and making their environmental work more effective, as well as complying with international commitments, including the approximation to the European Union by the candidate countries. To date, the programme has initiated about 165 projects.
A brief Internet presentation of the programme has been available for some time, but a completely revised and substantially expanded Web site in both English (http://www.internat.environ.se/documents/swepa/intwork/easteu/easteu.htm) and Swedish (http://www.environ.se/dokument/omverket/intnatio/osteu/osteu.htm) has been launched.
The new site offers information on:
- •
background and establishment;
- •
objectives, guidelines, development goals;
- •
main areas of work (details on EU candidate countries in relation to the regulatory framework of the EU; transboundary watercourses, lakes and the Baltic Sea; environmental work in NW Russia);
- •
programme projects;
- •
funding and management;
- •
programme partners;
- •
secretariat.
Brief presentations are given of all on-going and planned projects, as well as of projects that are either completed or still on-going but close to completion. The new site has been elaborated in close co-operation between the secretariat and Ardea Miljö in Sweden.
