Elsevier brings scientific information to New Zealand

Less document supply from and in New Zealand as Elsevier signs up a “big deal”. It is difficult to distinguish outrage at the “big deals” from actual decision making by those making the noises!Elsevier recently announced that a new agreement has been signed with members of the New Zealand Vice-Chancellors’ Committee (NZVCC) and the Association of Crown Research Institutes (ACRI) which will provide New Zealand researchers with access to vital scientific and medical information.

As a result of the project application’s success, researchers from eight universities and nine Crown Research Institutes (CRIs) have complete access to over 1,900 full-text journals going back to 1995 on ScienceDirect under the Freedom Collection package. Three polytechnics were also involved in the project and they will have access to journals in their required fields through ScienceDirect Subject Collections.
