At the 1st World Tribology Congress in London last September it was approved by a narrow margin of votes of members of the International Tribology Council that the next World Tribology Congress would be staged in 2001 in Austria by the OTG (Österreichische Tribologische Gesellschaft) with support from the German GfT (Gesellschaft für Tribologie).
