New PQL provides entry-level option for ferrous debris monitoring
Analytical instrumentation specialist Analex International Limited has launched a new, entry-level addition to its range of ferrous debris monitors which provides an affordable option for organisations handling a smaller number of samples (see Plate 3 ). The PQL is aimed at academic or other laboratory environments that do not wish to invest in the higher throughput PQA and PQM models. Alternatively it also provides an overflow or backup resource for more demanding environments.

The PQL is ideal for samplinag engine or hydraulic oils and provides a very high level of sensitivity, accurately detecting ferrous debris concentrations as low as 1 ppm. Minimal sample preparation is required and test results are displayed on a built-in LCD display.
Housed in a compact, portable unit, the PQL accepts samples in disposable 2ml plastic centrifuge tubes and is supplied with a 500 microgram/ml (500 ppm) calibration standard. The unit can also be battery-powered (12V) if required, making it suitable for mobile or field use.
