Comment and opinion
In this issue we are very pleased to present four papers covering different aspects of research work.
Doctor Pandazaras and Professor Petropoulos of the University of Thessaly in Greece report on work done in analysing the piston ring to cylinder system. Doctor Holweger presents some very interesting thoughts on predicting long-term lubricant performance from short-term analysis. P.I. Andharia, J.L Gupta and G.M. Deheri from Gujarat in India describe work done on investigating the film shape in a slider bearing. Finally Alan Plomer and Dr Benda of BP Amoco Chemicals discuss work they have done looking at engine cold start wear rates when modern low viscosity oils are used.
I hope that in this wide spectrum of work each reader will find some items of either general or specific interest.
If you are reading this journal then you will presumably be interested in or working in the lubrication or tribology field. If you are involved in research or development then we would welcome the opportunity to publish your work. I know we have many practising lubrication engineers amongst our readers. You will have considerable practical experience that would be highly valued by those at the other end of the industry engaged in pure research. If you are willing to convert your experience into short articles suitable for publication then please contact us.
I look forward to hearing from you.
