The new TRIM C320 from Master Chemical Europe is an exceptionally versatile all-rounder with excellent lubricity for a synthetic. It has been formulated for the high speed turning, drilling, tapping and grinding of aluminium, steel, cast iron and copper alloys. Its "down-the-hole" machining performance is comparable to that of premium soluble oils (Plate 6).

As is standard with all TRIM products however, this performance is not at the expense of stringent environmental standards. Inherently bio-stable, without the use of conventional biocides, TRIM C320 contains no nitrides, chlorine, sulphur or phenol. It is water clear, virtually mist- and odour-free and produces little or no foam at operating temperatures in excess of 27°C.

Reduced operating costs are an important selling point of this coolant. Very low carry-off, exceptionally long sump life – in both individual sumps and central systems – are major factors in this regard. It is particularly effective at keeping grinding wheels clean, ensuring better surface integrity and faster stock removal.

TRIM C320 keeps machines clean – reducing maintenance costs – and provides good corrosion inhibition on all common ferrous and non-ferrous alloys but, unlike other typical synthetics, a soft protective fluid film residue stays on the components.

The versatility of this new addition to the TRIM range makes it suitable for a wide range of applications, greatly simplifying inventories for its users. It is an excellent candidate for aircraft engineering, the compliance procedure for which is now well underway.
