Article Type: Editorial From: Industrial Lubrication and Tribology, Volume 60, Issue 5

In this issue we are very pleased to present work carried out in Lithuania, Iran, South Korea, Nigeria, Turkey, France and India. A wide range of subjects are addressed but we believe that we are providing representative work from all areas of the world.

We seem now to be accepting a new very high price for crude oil leading to increased prices for fuels and lubricants. Perhaps more work is needed in universities to demonstrate ways in which lubricants can be used more effectively. This should cover everything from refinery and base oil techniques to lubricant formulations. Are we really valuing our lubricant products highly enough?

The Famous Jost report highlighted the enormous potential savings possible if tribological developments continue to occur and more importantly are converted into real world situations.

Of course now with higher energy consumption world wide, and the subsequent revaluing by the market of energy products, the potential savings have multiplied considerably since Dr Jost made his comments all those years ago.

The Industrial Lubrication and Tribology (ILT) editorial team are sure that papers linked to energy saving will start to dominate our pages over the next few years.

All papers in ILT are peer reviewed to ensure that we can maintain and gradually provoke higher quality work to appear in our pages. If you believe you could help in reviewing papers then we are always pleased to hear from you and perhaps make you a member of our team.
