A $4.0 million dollar order for robotic steel welding systems has been awarded to Yaskawa Motoman Canada Ltd (YMC), Motoman, Inc.'s Canadian representative of its robotic product line. Dyna-Mig Mfg (Stratford, Ontario), a tier one supplier to the automotive industry, placed the order which includes 43 Motoman SKI6 robots with Motoman/ Kobelco SENSARC ES350 weld packages.
The robots will weld steel truck frames on a production line. Once the robots are installed, Dyna-Mig will have one of Canada's largest installations of steel welding robot systems.
After testing several welding packages, Dyna-Mig chose the Kobelco SENSARC ES350 for its consistent burnback control. Dyna-Mig was also impressed with the low levels of spatter generated by the ES350, even using CO2 as a shielding gas, instead of a more expensive argon/CO2 mixture. Motoman has an agreement with Kobelco, a division of Kobe Steel Ltd of Japan, to distribute Motoman modified versions of the complete line of Kobelco power sources in the Western hemisphere.
